On Wednesday, April 26th, 2017, Komar Research Center and Accounting Department held a workshop on “Application and Usage of E-views for Financial Statements Analysis” in the Computer Labs of Business Building. Dr. Mustafa Hassan, chairman of Accounting Department was the instructor of the workshop, he has many years of experience in the financial industry.
E-Views or Econometric Views is a statistical package, used mainly for time-series oriented econometric analysis. It offers academic researchers, corporations, government agencies, and students access to powerful statistical, forecasting, and modeling tools through an innovative, easy-to-use object-oriented interface. Financial Econometrics is an active field of integration of finance, economics, probability, statistics and applied mathematics. Financial activities generate many new problems to which economics provides useful theoretical foundation and guidance while quantitative methods such as statistics, probability, and applied mathematics provide.
The aims of the workshop were to provide research stimulus to keen learners comprising academicians and students, to exchange views, share knowledge and have a clear idea of E-Views and its usefulness so as to build a road map for overall financial development, and the application of E-Views, for example, in case of Baghdad Soft Drink Industry (Pepsi-cola Iraq).
More than twenty people participated in the workshop where they have been trained well in using E-views. Vice President of Administration and Finance awarded the participants with the certificate of completion.
A survey among participants was conducted and the majority of them give positive feedback and recommended to organize similar workshops in the future.
