Physics of Solar Energy
The physics of Solar Energy is based on two principles (a) Conversation of Energy and (b) Photoelectric Effect. Modern mathematical formulas of both principals were given during the nineteenth century while their applications developed in the twentieth- and twentieth-first century. Based on the principles when the light is shone on a metal, electrons are released. The flow of electrons makes electricity. Physicists, chemists, and engineers continue working to develop materials which produce a large amount of the electricity and a system that stores it. It is expected that solar energy will be used intensively to provide electricity in the future. In this presentation, I am sharing the theoretical principles of converting solar energy to electricity and major challenges facing it. Finally, a simple application of producing electricity by a solar panel in Sulaymaniyah will be shown.

Solar Energy for Water Heating System
Utilising the thermal energy from the sun to heat water has greatly improved during the past century. Nowadays there are more than 30 million m2 of solar collectors installed worldwide. Many water heating systems are in use in a number of the developed countries, China, and India. Some countries (like Israel) requires by the law to install a solar water heating system in a new residential project.
Therefore, this presentation considers the use of sun energy for water heating system. It first provides an introduction to sun energy and the amount of this energy received at the earth surface. The presentations also provide statistics about the energy demand met by the solar energy and different use of the solar energy. Secondly the presentation focus on the use of the solar energy for water heating system describing the basic processes involved, listing the environmental variables, and providing an energy model. Finally, the presentation is ended with some advantages and disadvantages of the solar energy.

Implementation of Solar System in Iraq
There has recently been a massive increase in the amount of PV installations (PVIs) connected to the grid, and this trend is expected to continue and even grow during the coming years. Not only are the number of PV installations increasing but also the sizes of installation as well. Iraq suffers from electricity shortages, and many challenges will have to be overcome to meet future increase in electrical demands.
In this presentation, we will present the solar system as one solution of the electricity shortage in Iraq and implementation of it in the system and we will mention the status and future of renewable energy in Iraq.

The future of window glass
What do you think if the window glasses of your room generates power instead of being only the mean to let the way to the sunlight getting inside your room in addition of seeing through it whatever appearing behind it? Let us think together much broader about window glass functions.
There are two main extents to be discussed regarding the changes that will be expected to happen on the window glass in the future, and now those two options are becoming a promising technology to be demonstrated and it will eventually get to be used by the people.
The two expected extents of the future of window glass are:
- The window glass could be improved to become smart and works as a TV or computer display.
- The window glass could be improved to become a Photovoltaic solar panel, which generates and delivers power.
So what will happen if you see the combination of the above-mentioned possibilities in both extents (1) & (2).
We will try to focus our presentation on the second point, which is photovoltaic solar panel in the form of window glass, i.e. the transparent solar cell or solar panel and one of the familiar way that is using in constructing this type of the solar cell is dye-sensitized solar DSSC by using Nanoparticles such as TiO2.
