On Wednesday, February 1st, 2017, Komar Research Center and Civil Engineering Department at KUST hosted a seminar on cooperation between KUST and Lafarge-Holcim Company in Iraq. Mr Nihat Yildiz was the Lafarge-Holcim representative.

Mr Yildiz presented a seminar on the Lafarge-Holcim in Iraq and how KUST, particularly Civil Engineering Department, can benefit from the cooperation and laboratories equipment that the company has in Sulaimani.

During the visit, Mr Nihat YILDIZ Country Communications Manager of Lafarge met Dr Salah Aziz (President of KUST), Dr Ako Rasheed (Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department), Dr Zmnako Awrahman (Director of Komar Research Center) and other faculty members.

During the meeting and besides the explanation for Lafarge-Holcim Foundation’s Award Program for 2017, also we agree to organize special lecture(s) on cement & concrete production and applications which might be a great deal of support for civil engineering students. Also, KUST and Lafarge-Holcim agree to organise a common session for senior students of civil engineering in Komar University.
