On Wednesday, April 5th, 2017, a seminar on “Gender Ambiguity and Identity in Talk to Her” was delivered by English Department Coordinator Ms. Kizhan Salar in the Auditorium Hall of Komar University of Science and Technology.
The seminar focused on the psychoanalytic approach of how the patriarchal system places pressure on individuals who are identified by the concept of the “other” in society. The interplay of the genders as delineated by the characters in the work is closely examined against the conventional assumption about masculinity and femininity.
The characters exhibit similar and at times conflicting complex, different and gender-bending identity role as well as marginalized aspects of their gender. A number of faculty members attended the seminar, asked questions, made comments and showed interest in the subject.
Director of Komar Research Center appreciated her valuable seminar by awarding her a “Certificate of Appreciation”
