Komar Research Center hosted Dr. Yassen Ahmed from the University of Sulaimani to present a seminar on membrane filtration at Komar University of Science and Technology on Wednesday, May 31st, 2017.
The seminar started by introducing the speaker to the audience by Director of KRC, Dr. Zmnako A. Awrahman. Dr. Yaseen opens his seminar with an introduction to water treatment process. Water treatment process is a multistage practice to make drinking water suitable for human use. One of the critical units or processes in water treatment plants is filtration.
Due to life development and intensive industrialization, amount and types of pollutants have been multiplied and increased. Thus, in the recent developed contaminated world, treatment of water using a granular sand filter is not an effective method for water treatment anymore. Therefore, more effective filtration method should be developed.
Membrane filtration has been introduced in last two decades as a new effective water filtration technique. In this seminar, he has presented membrane filtration techniques, different types of membrane filters and function and limitation of each type have been discussed with the constraints and limitation of each type. Finally, concerns have also been discussed regarding the membrane filtration technique.
The seminar ended with a question and answer session. Dr. Jalal Saeed presented Dr. Yaseen Ahmed with the certificate of appreciation from Komar Research Center.
